How many clues does a Sudoku puzzle need to have to be solvable?

A Sudoku puzzle is a logical mathematical puzzle. The goal of the puzzle is to fill in a 9×9 grid with numbers such that each column, row, and 3×3 box contains all of the numbers 1-9. In order to be solvable, a Sudoku puzzle must have at least 17 clues.

There is an unwritten rule that sudoku puzzles must have only one solution. For this reason, some people consider puzzles with less than 17 clues to be “unsolvable.” However, if you are a logical thinker, you should be able to solve any sudoku puzzle, no matter how few clues it has!

Puzzles with less than 17 clues can be solved however the puzzles will have multiple solutions. This means that if you submit your answer to a puzzle solver with less than 17 clues, the solver will not be able to determine if your answer is correct or not. Therefore, it is important to always use pencil when solving these types of puzzles, in case you need to erase and try again!
